Important game updates for Farsite players! The doors are now open for starship pilots to fly out of their home system to various star systems. Additionally, they can now build refineries to mine specialized resources. So far, the team has been faithfully and consistently releasing additions to the game to the delight of the community.

In short, the blockchain-powered MMO game features real-time strategy elements. Players can take on all kinds of roles to be part of a larger intergalactic economy. All items in the game are made by players, using resources that they also acquired.

Farsite Game Update #1: The Doors Are Now Open

Doors open at Farsite in two days, on January 27. Players will be able to travel through them to visit different transport systems and resources between sectors. This basically removes restrictions on starship pilots on where they can fly. Players should definitely take advantage of the fact that the gate ride is free now that the game is still in the pre-alpha stage.

There will be fees involved in traveling through Gates in addition to fuel costs in the future. The cost of fuel increases based on the weight of the boat and the distance traveled. Doors have predefined connections and only go to one place. However, stars can have multiple gates that lead to different systems. So rather than traveling from point A to point B, this update allows players to stock their ships with cargo for transportation!

Game Update #2: Refining Now Available!

Last October 2021, the team allowed players to purchase parcels of land, also known as Sectors, on a total of eight different planets in the game's persistent decentralized universe. The owners of the sector then went about base building, building basic mining structures, and collecting raw resources.

So how are refineries different?

The key difference is that refiners create more specialized resources. Resource processing in a refinery produces a primary resource plus one or two additional or secondary resources. To illustrate, Hydrogen Gas processing produces Hydrogen, Solid CO2 and Planetary Dust. Note that players create all items in the game using the materials and resources they find. So introducing the Refineries is a major twist to the game.

Deviating from the usual virtual asset drops, which accept cryptocurrencies as payment, players need credits to buy assets and this applies to refineries. Buying one would cost 500,000 credits plus several thousand resources. So it is quite expensive. However, the benefits are tremendous. Being able to produce second level Resources will likely be an invaluable skill.

So how are Refineries different?

Yes, Farsite has yet to reveal the full game, but it seems the community is happy with the pace of release. So everything is fine.

An exciting aspect is the intricate token and network system. Farsite credits exist on the Polygon blockchain, while the game also offers FAR tokens. 1 FAR token will always be 1000 credits. Farsite is based on the Ethereum blockchain and should be compatible with Ethereum 2.0. The game uses three layers: Ethereum (L1), Polygon (L2), and ZK Relay (L3).

Also, the game has yet to release plans for markets, base building, ship crafting, planetary government, and more!
