Axie Esports Grant 2022 opens for submissions

Sky Mavis continues its support of Axie Esports with the 2022 award of the 'Axie Esports Grant'. This year's grant involves the allocation of 7,500 AXS between prize pools and expenses from over 75 community-run tournaments, surpassing last year's grant which saw a distribution of 5,500 AXS supporting 40 tournaments.

Applications for the second round of grants launched on January 15 and will continue through January 25. Once the submission deadline arrives, Axie Esports events can officially begin, with the last day of the Axie Esports calendar being June 30, 2022.

Sky Mavis have, of course, played their part in ensuring an even better collection of tournaments within this grant round, largely stemming from their adherence to feedback from last year's event. Explicit changes they have made to this year's grant include that event expenses can be 5% of allocated AXS, a maximum of 150 AXS is allocated to any one event, and individual organizers can submit up to three events.

Understandably, in order to create a successful tournament submission, community event organizers must adhere to a strict catalog of requirements that ensure their efforts are worthy of such funding. Approved tournament organizers who do not meet the minimum requirements will be penalized by forfeiting 5% of the AXS they used for expenses, as well as being disqualified from participating in future Axie Esports grants.
