Goodbye bots.

Valve is improving competitiveness in the latest Counter-Strike patch and finally eliminating bots.

When a player leaves or is kicked out of a game in competitive or flanking mode, he will no longer be replaced by a bot. Although this will lead to four-on-five situations, it should help smooth the pace of the game.

The top fragger often plays aggressively when a bot joins the party, sacrificing their lives to take control. This can be frustrating for both teams and lead to an unfair match. A four against five is not ideal, but it is better than a pesky bot.

Valve is also adding a number of map changes in CS:GO's January 7 patch, updating and fixing Ancient, Cache, Engage, and guard. Here is the full list of changes.

  • When a player disconnects or gets kicked in the competitive classic and wingman modes, they will no longer be replaced by a bot. If all the other team leaves, one bot will be left on the other team, idle in a generation.
  • Fixed robots were not navigating properly in warm-up arenas
